Lawyer Dr. Ümit Ercan was born in 1974 in Merzifon/Amasya. He graduated from the Military Academy in 1996 as a 'Systems Engineer.' During his military career, he served in short-term NATO and EU missions in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Macedonia. He attended various courses in the USA on behalf of the Turkish Armed Forces and completed part of his master's education at the US Naval Postgraduate School. He holds a master's and a doctorate degree in Defence Management. He graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Law in 2009. He has taught courses on Management and Organization, Leadership, Communication Techniques, Military Criminal and Disciplinary Law at the National Defense University. Additionally, he has provided training to personnel from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bosnia, and Macedonia at the NATO Partnership for Peace School. He has taught various law courses at Başkent University and the National Defense University. He currently teaches Introduction to International Trade and Trade Law at Ostim Technical University. He continues to practice law at his law office, Ümit Law & Consultancy, which he founded."​
